Groom’s Cakes are quickly becoming a Pittsburgh staple at weddings and rehearsal dinners.
What is a Groom’s Cake, you ask? A Groom’s Cake is traditionally more informal than the wedding cake. It showcases the groom’s interests and often adds a touch of whimsy to the occasion. Also, the batter and fillings are more unique and taste specific, i.e. chocolate cake batter with peanut butter filling or yellow cake batter with cookies n’ cream filling (yum!).
In many instances the bride will come to us to make the Groom’s Cake and will surprise the groom with it as he walks into the reception or rehearsal dinner.
We would like to showcase two Groom’s Cakes from this weekend that highlighted one groom’s love of Pittsburgh’s sports teams (we’re still mad about the Pirates) and the other’s love of the City of Pittsburgh.
