Planning a wedding from another state can be tricky. Planning a wedding from another state while both the bride and groom are in the Air Force seems downright impossible. With the help of many family members and friends, Air Force Staff Sergeant Ryan Frederick and Senior Airman Tara Thompson planned their wedding in Pittsburgh from Colorado.
The couple’s parents worked as a team by going to many of the vendor appointments together (including Bethel Bakery!) and were extremely respectful of Ryan and Tara’s wishes in the decisions they made. Through the use of technology and good communication between all parties, the wedding was executed beautifully and was exactly what the couple envisioned.
A few weeks prior to the wedding, Tara approached us to make a Groom’s Cake for the rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding. Her purpose was to surprise Ryan with something special and her only request was that she would like to incorporate the Air Force in some way. As I spoke with Tara over the phone about Ryan and all that he has accomplished, I could hear the pride and love in her voice. It made sense then that the best way to honor Ryan would be to create his Air Force uniform – medals, ribbons, and all – out of cake.
Thank you Tara and Ryan for including us on your special day. It was a pleasure working with you and your families and we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.
